Core Web Vitals: why website speed affects your sales
Three Google metrics sum up the experience of the people who visit your website. See what each one measures and how to improve it.

What Core Web Vitals are
They are three metrics Google uses to measure the real experience of people visiting a page: LCP measures how long the largest visible element takes to appear, INP measures how quickly the page responds to clicks and taps, and CLS measures how much the layout jumps while it loads.
Why they matter for business
A slow website loses people before it even shows the offer. Every second of waiting makes it more likely that the visitor goes back to the search results and clicks on a competitor.
How to improve
- 01Images at the right size. Modern formats such as AVIF and WebP, sized for each screen.
- 02Less JavaScript. Only load in the browser what really needs to be interactive.
- 03Reserved space. Set the width and height of images and ads so the layout does not jump.
